Stephen Curry, Warriors pull away for win over Nets

Stephen Curry scored 29 points as the Golden State Warriors took control in the fourth quarter and recorded a 109-98 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night in New York.

Two nights after producing his second career 60-point game in a seven-point overtime loss at Atlanta, Curry helped the Warriors win for the third time in four games in a contest that was choppy at times. He made 12 of 24 shots and hit Golden State's only four 3-pointers (on 11 attempts) as the Warriors finished 4-for-22 from behind the arc.

Jonathan Kuminga continued his recent emergence by collecting 28 points and 10 rebounds as the Warriors outscored the Nets 72-38 in the paint and held a commanding 60-38 rebounding margin. Kuminga wound up three shy of his career high for points, making 9 of 18 shots and 10 of 12 free-throw attempts.

Rookie Brandin Podziemski started for Andrew Wiggins (sore left ankle) and contributed 15 points and 11 boards. Draymond Green collected eight points, seven assists and 10 rebounds.

Coming off a 40-point game Saturday in Philadelphia, Cam Thomas led the Nets with 18 points but shot 4-for-21 from the floor. Nic Claxton added 15 and a career-high seven blocks before getting ejected for a flagrant-two foul on Podziemski with 4:59 left.

Royce O'Neale kept the Nets in it by hitting five 3-pointers and scoring all 15 of his points in the fourth. Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson put up 13 apiece for the Nets, who shot 38.2 percent from the floor. Golden State shot 46.2 percent on field-goal attempts.

The Nets rested Ben Simmons and also lost Lonnie Walker IV for most of the game due to a hamstring injury.

After the Nets held a 49-43 lead at halftime, the Warriors never trailed following two Podziemski free throws that snapped a 67-67 tie with 2:43 left in the third quarter.

Golden State took a 75-70 edge into the fourth and outscored the Nets 13-6 in the final 3:06. Curry converted a three-point play with 79 seconds left and Kuminga finished it off by dunking with 20 seconds left.
