Curry will miss at least next two games
Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday, Stephen Curry suffered a left adductor strain. Four days later Curry is doing better, but he isn’t ready to return yet.

“He’s doing OK,” Kerr told ESPN’s Nick Friedell on Monday. “It’s a tricky injury. He’s never had a groin injury before, so as I said the other day, the MRI was encouraging. There didn’t appear to be anything dramatic in there, but the MRI doesn’t always tell the story and you really have to go on symptoms.”

This season, Curry leads the league in scoring (29.5 PPG). In 12 games, he’s currently posting a career-high in effective field goal rating (64.6 percent). He’s shooting 49.2 percent from long-range as well, which would also be a career-high. In the meantime, the Warriors are 11-2 and leading the Western Conference. After falling to the Bucks last week -- the same game Curry was injured -- they got back in the win column with a win over Brooklyn (116-100).

Kerr says two more games is just a rough estimate, though. At this point, Curry is essentially day-to-day.

“He won’t play tonight or tomorrow, and we’re still going to evaluate daily and see where it all goes, but it’s frustrating for him,” Kerr adds. “He’s had such a great start to the year. But again, it’s a new injury for him and we’ve got to make sure he’s fully healthy before we put him back out there.”

Kerr is right. There is no reason to rush Curry back to action right now. Heck, they didn’t even do that during the postseason. Why risk his health now? Still, Curry is the heartbeat of the Warriors. As he goes, they go. And he is off to an excellent start.

Here’s to hoping he’s back on the court soon. The game is better with him playing it.
