Steve Kerr: 'No way I could have played' in today's NBA
Kerr, who won five titles as a player, doesn't think he could have kept up in this era. Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was a solid role player in his day as a three-point specialist, winning five NBA championships over the course of his 15-year career.

Yet he looks around at the players today, sees what they can do and is convinced there’s no way he could possibly play in this new era. He opened up about this a bit during Monday night’s Western Conference Finals Game 1 against the Houston Rockets.

That’s a pretty incredible statement to make.

Kerr has never been one to toot his own horn, however, so it’s not surprising that he sees things this way. The game has evolved in a big way, to be sure, and Kerr has a good idea about who to credit for that, too.
