Steve Kerr claims the Warriors were not a let down in loss the the Bucks

The Golden State Warriors have had a strong start to the season, but they had a disappointing loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night. However, the Warriors are not worried at all about the loss.

On Thursday, the Milwaukee Bucks pulled off a massive upset win when they beat the Golden State Warriors while playing without superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. It was even more significant because former Warriors guard Ryan Rollins was the standout performer with 32 points and eight assists to lead the Bucks to a 120-110 victory.

It was a ‘terrifying’ game for the Warriors because they had to play against a motivated team. Teams without their star player often perform well, as was the case with the Bucks. It was also a revenge game of sorts for Rollins, who was the best player on the floor.

For any team, this would be a demoralizing defeat. However, that is not the case for Steve Kerr and his Warriors. He and his team are shaking off the loss and looking forward to bouncing back against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, November 1.

Kerr admits the loss was not a massive letdown

Of course, losing to the Bucks without their star player is tough. However, the season has 82 games, so Kerr wants his team to shake off the loss. It is a tough loss to swallow, considering the Bucks were there for the taking. However, the Warriors did not play as well as they could, so they ended up on the wrong side.

They can use it as motivation, but they won’t need to dwell on the defeat. It was a disappointing night for some players, including Buddy Hield, Quinten Post, and more. The Warriors lacked the offensive firepower needed to beat a plucky underdog like the Bucks.

As a longtime head coach, Kerr knows how to take a loss on the chin alongside his veterans: Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, and Al Horford. This is one of those results he wants to move on from, focusing on how the Warriors will beat the teams on their schedule, starting with the Pacers over the weekend.

“I don’t think we had a letdown, personally. I think, honestly, we just weren’t sharp. And Milwaukee played a phenomenal game,” Kerr said on the Willard and Dibs show on 95.7 The Game.

“Sometimes you just have to credit your opponent. And I’m really proud of our guys to start out the season with this schedule. It’s been a crazy schedule to start the season.”

The Warriors are focused on the big picture

The Western Conference is filled with some of the best teams in the league. Even the bottom-dwelling teams from the 2024-25 season, like the Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs, are doing well. That leaves fewer spots in the postseason when April comes around.

This loss is a blow for the Warriors, but they can nullify it if they play well enough moving forward. Losing to the Bucks, led by a former Warrior, can be demoralizing, but it won’t be a significant loss if they find their way back to being a top team again.

Kerr is focused on that big picture, and the rest of the team will be aligned on that as well. They can always look at a loss and dwell on it, but it won’t be a productive approach to the NBA. If they can keep playing at a high level, the Warriors can be a team that pulls off upsets in the postseason.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets are the favorites in the West, but the Warriors have the quality to keep fighting. Their age might be an issue for some, but that has not been the main factor behind some of their losses. If they can keep their momentum going, the Warriors will be a problem for many Western Conference teams.
