Steve Kerr Gives Blunt Reality Check on Warriors’ Playoff Push With Just 22 Games Left

Following last year’s late surge, the Golden State Warriors’ fans were extremely upbeat about a possible championship run this year. Unfortunately, with half of the league now done, the Warriors are struggling to even qualify for the playoffs! And as their quest to land Giannis Antetokounmpo fell flat, Steve Kerr has no positive statement to share.

Recently, the Warriors faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers in a high-profile clash. With Stephen Curry struggling with his knees, it was always going to be a mountain to climb for the Warriors. As expected, the team put up a lackluster performance, surrendering 101-129. Following the loss, whispers about their future in the league began to surface. And with just 22 games remaining, the head coach looked quite underconfident.

“It’s a lot to make up with 22 games left. We don’t even talk about it. It’s not anything that is worth discussing because we just have to try to go out and win and see what happens,” said Kerr in his post-game interaction with the media.

Currently, the Warriors are eighth in the West with 31 wins and 29 losses. However, in order for them to secure a sixth-seeding, something major needs to change. But with the recent controversy surrounding Kristaps Porzingis, it looks like the team is in deep trouble.

Kristaps Porzingis Has a Curious Case of POTS, and Steve Kerr Might Not Be Aware

It is not a surprise that Porzingis has been struggling with his Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). He missed as many as 14 games for the Atlanta Hawks for the same reason before the team traded him to the Warriors. But in a surprising turn of events, head coach Kerr has pointed out that his absence had nothing to do with POTS.

When I heard about the trade, I read about his POTS diagnosis and then called Onsi Saleh, who was with us, he’s now Atlanta’s GM and he’s a good friend of mine. I called him and I said, ‘is this POTS story real?’ And he said it’s actually not POTS. It was not POTS.’ So that was some misinformation that was out there,” Kerr said.

Surely, it is evident that the Warriors are looking down the barrel at the moment. But fans will surely expect a fit Stephen Curry to turn things around magically in the future.
