Steve Kerr gives surprising response when discussing state of the Golden State Warriors

The end of this dynastic iteration of the Golden State Warriors is near, and the man who has been at the helm is aware of it.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told ESPN, "We're in the final stages" of the Warriors' dynasty.

"We know this isn't going forever. This could be the last year, maybe next year is the last year," Kerr said.

Golden State (6-8, 11th in Western Conference) does not look like a championship contender at this early point of the season. As great as Stephen Curry has been, he isn't getting much help from his supporting cast. Klay Thompson is struggling and the cloud of a preseason skirmish between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole hangs over the team.

The Warriors are the first defending champion to begin a season 0-7 on the road.

Curry has been his usual brilliant self, averaging 31.5 points on career-high 52.3 percent shooting from the field. He is shooting 43.3 percent from three.

Thompson is averaging 14.7 points on career lows from three (33 percent) and overall (35.1 percent). Per NBA.com advanced stats, Green's defensive rating (109.8) is the second worst of his career. Poole's net rating (negative-8.8) is the worst among Warriors averaging 20 or more minutes per game.

On Tuesday, the team announced 2020 lottery pick James Wiseman was demoted to the G-League. His lack of progress has been detrimental to the team's chance at success this season.

It's never a smart bet to go against a healthy Curry and the Warriors. Kerr's words don't suggest he believes the end is here already. As long as Curry plays at an MVP level, there will always be a chance the Warriors can turn things around and repeat as champions.

If they don't do it this year, it could be a while before we see Golden State on top of the basketball world again.
