The Golden State Warriors fell short of a trip to the playoffs, and for the first time in a decade, it looks like this might actually be the end of the dynasty.
Steve Kerr's future with the organization is in doubt, and Draymond Green admitted he may not be back either.
That's why a broadcasting giant is trying to make the most of this situation and make sure Kerr doesn't return to coach the Warriors or any other team.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, ESPN executives have been trying to convince Kerr to return to the broadcasting industry.
“League sources tell The Stein Line that ESPN's top executives have been lobbying Kerr aggressively to try to convince him to return to the world of NBA broadcasting, but the Warriors are expected to meet with Kerr as early as Monday to resume discussions about his status. I'm told Golden State has been operating internally in recent days as though it is more likely than not that a common ground can be found with the 60-year-old on a new deal that would keep him in place coaching Stephen Curry,” Stein wrote.
Kerr has worn several hats since his playing days. From days in front offices to serving as an analyst, the former NBA champion has stayed close to the game for decades.
Perhaps that's just what he needs right now, given the wear and tear that has come with being at the forefront of one of the greatest teams in league history for a decade.
Kerr and the Warriors will continue to have talks about their prospects together. Even so, it looks like Kerr won't be unemployed for long if he doesn't return to the Bay Area.
