Steve Kerr's big gamble paid off for Golden State Warriors
USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday evening, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 127-100 on their home floor at the Chase Center in Game 2 of their second-round playoff series.

With the victory, they have tied up the series at 1-1 after losing the first game 117-112 (also at home).

Starting center Kevon Looney was dealing with an illness , so head coach Steve Kerr brought the three-time NBA Champion off the bench (he played 12 minutes and had six points and seven rebounds).

Kerr made the decision to insert JaMychal Green into the starting lineup (he had only started in one game all season), and the gamble paid off in a significant way.

Green played just 13 minutes but was super productive with 15 points, one rebound and two assists while shooting 6/10 from the field and 3/6 from the three-point range.

His play was huge for the Warriors and made Kerr's move look brilliant.

The 32-year-old forward is in his first year with the franchise after spending the last seasons with the Denver Nuggets (he has not started more than eight games in a season since 2018).

Klay Thompson led the team with 30 points, and they also held eight-time All-Star Anthony Davis to just 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists (he had 30 points, 23 rebounds and five assists in the first game).

The series will now go to Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4 on Saturday and Monday, and the starting lineup for the Warriors will be something to watch.
