Steve Kerr referenced the recent U.S. Presidential election when speaking to the press before the Warriors' game against the Celtics. Kerr addressed the recent election results, where Donald Trump became the president of the United States. Kerr wished Trump well but did joke about the legitimacy of the elections in the past, before joking about the Warriors making America great again by beating the Celtics.

“I believe in democracy. I think the American people have spoken and voted for Trump. I want him to do well the next four years. I want our country to do well... I'm just thankful there wasn't any voting fraud this time."

"Last time, all those illegal immigrants who crashed the border, raped and murdered people, and then voted six times, that was unfortunate. But thankfully this time everything was clean. It's great that every election has been really valid except for that last one four years ago."

"Twinkle in my eye as I say that, in case you didn't see it... I believe in democracy, I believe in the will of the people. I will do everything in my power to support to my country and my government. I want nothing but the best for us. It's a complex world."

"We have a lot of interesting stuff between wars abroad and a global economy... I live in a bubble and I'm one of the luckiest people on Earth ... I want what's best for us. I hope Trump can deliver that. I just told them in our meeting this morning 'Let's make America great again and beat the Celtics tonight'.”

Kerr has been vocally against Donald Trump over the years. The Warriors were famously the first team to boycott the tradition of the NBA champions going to the White House when Donald Trump became president, doing so in 2017 and 2018. And most recently, he spoke at the Democratic National Convention, where he referenced Stephen Curry's 'Night Night' celebration to mock Donald Trump.

Kerr Focusing On Making Warriors Great Again

Steve Kerr might not have the power to make America great again, but he has done a very good job with the Golden State Warriors, getting them off to a great start despite the absence of a second star to help Stephen Curry. Players like Buddy Hield have fit into the team very well and helped the Warriors start strong.

The Warriors are currently 7-1 and were able to beat the reigning champions Boston Celtics in a rematch of their 2022 NBA Finals series. Stephen Curry has been sensational for the Warriors, starting the season averaging 21.2 points, 7.0 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game.

The Warriors were expected to be one of the weaker teams in what many consider a stacked Western Conference, especially with the recent departure of Klay Thompson in free agency.

But they have shocked the league with their strong start. Perhaps Steve Kerr can continue to bring the Warriors back to their glory days and help them compete for an NBA championship.
