Steve Nash, Robert Sarver on verge of buying soccer club

Former Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash and current Suns owner Robert Sarver appear to be on the verge of purchasing the Spanish soccer club Mallorca.

Sarver, who has been trying to buy a soccer club all year, also made a run at purchasing Scottish team the Rangers in early 2015.

Nash and Sarver, who are part of a larger group, also nearly purchased the Spanish club Levante in August before negotiations fell apart.

Mallorca is currently ranked 18th in the second division of Spanish football.

Nash, a two-time NBA MVP, grew up playing soccer and has never been shy about showing his affection for the sport. Now that he has retired from basketball, it's no surprise the future Hall of Famer is looking to become part of the global game.

Sarver, the Suns' principal owner, is also the chief executive officer of Western Alliance Bancorporation.
