Kobe Bryant has been honored in many ways in the Los Angeles area, and now he'll be remembered with more than just various murals and memorials.
Herb Wesson Jr., president of the Los Angeles City Council, announced Monday that Figueroa St. will be renamed to "Kobe Bryant Boulevard."
Figueroa St. will soon be Kobe Bryant Blvd. between Olympic & MLK.

Kobe’s legacy is bigger than basketball. #KobeBryantBlvd will be a reminder to everyone, young and old who drive down it, there is no obstacle too big and that with the #Mambamentality , anything is possible. pic.twitter.com/gvekIFOU5u
Wesson shared the news on Aug. 24, or 8/24, which is known as "Mamba Day" because Bryant wore both No.'s 8 and 24 during his storied L.A. career.
The renaming of Figueroa St. is even more special because it's the street where the Staples Center is located, which is home to the Lakers.
The Lakers also plan to honor Bryant on Monday during their Game 4 matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers by wearing their "Black Mamba" city edition jerseys.
