Jalen Green had an incredible debut for the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, scoring 29 points in just 23 minutes of action. That was the 6-foot-4 shooting guard’s first game of the season after being forced to sit out the first eight contests due to a groin injury.
Unfortunately for Green, the 23-year-old is now back on the injury list after he reaggravated his hamstring injury in Saturday’s 114-103 win against the Los Angeles Clippers. Green was forced to exit after just seven minutes of action. He had to be helped off the floor, and it did not take long before the Suns announced that he would not be returning.
Green joined the Suns in the offseason as part of the blockbuster Kevin Durant trade with the Houston Rockets. Green and Dillon Brooks took their talents to Phoenix, with Durant heading to the Rockets in what turned out to be a historic seven-team trade deal.
The Suns previously ruled Green out for Monday’s matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans, marking his ninth missed contest out of Phoenix’s 11 games so far this season. Phoenix head coach Jordan Ott spoke to reporters ahead of the Pelicans game, and he provided a rather concerning update on Green’s current injury status.
According to Ott, Green is set to undergo multiple tests to determine the extent of his right hamstring injury, per Suns reporter Hayden Cilley of ClutchPoints. At the moment, the Suns are still waiting for the official diagnosis on Green’s injury.
This does not bode well for Green’s chances of suiting up in Phoenix’s next game, which will be on Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks. Given how Green previously missed eight straight games with this same injury, it would not be a surprise if this reaggravation leads to another extended spell on the sidelines.
The Suns are currently 5-5 heading into Monday’s matchup against the Pelicans. They have won four out of their five games in November thus far.
