Phoenix Suns superstar guard Devin Booker has solidified his commitment to the franchise in the team’s latest coach search. NBA Insider Marc Stein revealed that the four-time All-Star has been involved with the candidates for the coaching vacancy within the organization and has helped in the late stage of interviews with the finalists.

Stein on Booker’s involvement in Suns coaching search:

“Suns star Devin Booker has had a level of involvement with candidates in this stage of interviews, further illustrating owner Mat Ishbia’s loudly stated determination to keep Booker in place as the team’s cornerstone.”

The final five assistants fighting for the head coach position is Dallas Mavericks Sean Sweeney, Miami Heat Chris Quinn, Oklahoma City Thunder Dave Bliss, Cleveland Cavaliers Jordan Ott and Johnnie Bryant. Four out of the five have finished the final in-person interview with general manager Brian Gregory and his staff, with Bliss the lone candidate left to be interview in-person.

Bliss is dealing with his team being in the NBA Finals and has had trouble making the trip to Phoenix for any in-person interview. However, reports have indicated that Gregory has no problem of flying to Oklahoma City to talk with Bliss face-to-face.

The decision on the Suns next head coach could happen anytime next week, with Gregory and his staff still pondering the decision. Booker will likely have a massive say in the final verdict, as well as owner Mat Ishbia who will look to avoid firing his fourth coach in four years.
