Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns jumped to 27-17 after a 116-110 win over Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday. And on Friday, after two full days off, the Suns looked to secure their fourth win in a row, finishing out a six-game road trip with a battle against Jalen Johnson and the Atlanta Hawks.
Booker has continued his solid play in his 11th NBA season, averaging 25.3 points on 45.3% shooting, 4.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game prior to Friday. And that was no different in Atlanta as Booker notched 31 points on 12-of-21 shooting, four rebounds and three assists.
But in the final seconds of the third quarter against the Hawks, Booker was jogging back after a turnover by Phoenix’s Grayson Allen when the former Kentucky Wildcats guard accidentally stepped on the foot of Atlanta’s Onyeka Okongwu, rolling his ankle and falling to the court.
Booker stayed on the floor in what appeared to be some serious pain before he was helped off the court and into the locker room by the Suns' coaching staff. And, unfortunately for Phoenix, its star guard was unable to return to the game before the Suns suffered a 110-103 loss.
The Suns confirmed postgame via head coach Jordan Ott that Booker had suffered a right ankle injury. The extent of their update was that he would be evaluated when the team returns home
"What happened to Book?" Ott said. "Right ankle. Rolled it on someone else's foot. Pretty unlucky. So, we'll have to take a look when we get back to Phoenix.
"You feel for them."

The Suns will be back in action on Sunday, returning home for a five-game homestand starting with Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat.
