PHOENIX — After what Phoenix Suns fans believed would be a tough start to the season, elation took over as the Suns came back from 20 points down to defeat the Sacramento Kings, 120-116, for their first win of the year on Wednesday.
The Suns’ first half didn’t start well, as the team struggled to make shots and couldn’t contain the Kings’ runs. Sacramento led 71-54 at halftime. The second half, however, told a different story as Phoenix rallied from behind to stun Sacramento.
Suns forward Devin Booker had 31 points with five rebounds and three assists. Newcomer Dillon Brooks had 22 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) couldn’t contain their excitement, praising the grit and heart the team showed until the very end. Many believed these qualities were lacking last season.

It wasn’t just a win for fans, but it was also a sign of hope for the season. After a widely followed offseason, the new-look team showed what it’s capable of and hinted at the identity the Suns have been searching for.
Even though it was only the first game of the season and the team is not yet at full strength, Wednesday’s game showed promise. With many more games to play and plenty of ups and downs ahead, the Suns can still build on their first win to carry momentum through the rest of the season.
The win felt earned and the reaction afterwards confirms it.
