Suns Give Update on Damion Lee Injury

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns sent the following memo out to reporters on Wednesday night:

"Phoenix Suns guard Damion Lee today underwent a successful surgery to repair his right meniscus. The procedure was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles. Updates on Lee’s return to the court will be provided as appropriate."

This update comes nearly two weeks after Phoenix's initial update of Lee's injury, which came on Oct. 1:

Phoenix Suns guard Damion Lee has sustained a right knee meniscus injury and will be out until further notice. The injury occurred during an on-court workout at the Verizon 5G Performance Center this past week. Updates will be provided as appropriate.

It is believed Lee will be out for a lengthy amount of time, though his actual timetable is still unknown. 

The Suns will be down one of their better three-point shooters until further notice, as Lee shot 44.5% from downtown last season with little playing time to show. He initially signed as a free agent last offseason after winning the NBA Finals with the Golden State Warriors and was re-signed this summer alongside F Josh Okogie. 

Suns head coach Frank Vogel was asked about Lee's injury on Media Day, though he didn't give much of an answer.

"We just know he's gonna be out for a while. I don't want to get into the specifics."

Phoenix will play in Portland tomorrow for their third preseason game. Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker played in the team's preseason opener in Detroit but didn't play in Tuesday night's home opener to Denver. 

The Suns start the regular season on Oct. 24.
