Just when Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal assumed he could move forward with a nagging calf injury that kept him out 2½ of their last six games, he is officially out of Monday’s contest against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Beal scored 19 points and six assists on 7-of-10 shooting in a 125-116 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, a win that closed the gap between Phoenix (30-34) and Dallas (32-33) to 1.5 games for the 10th seed and final Western Conference play-in spot.
Along with Beal, Monte Morris (low back injury management) is doubtful and Cody Martin (G League – on assignment) and Jalen Bridges (G League – two-way) are both out.
The Grizzlies are going to be without their All-Star center, Jaren Jackson Jr., due to a left ankle sprain. Brandon Clarke (right knee soreness), Zach Edey (right ankle soreness) and Vince Williams Jr. (right foot soreness) are all questionable and Luke Kennard (low back soreness) and Santi Aldama (right calf strain) are also out.
The Suns are yet to defeat Memphis in three games this season; the last one being a devastation 151-149 overtime loss where Ja Morant scored 29 points and took over in the fourth and overtime periods.
