Suns Make Roster Moves, Including Signing Duop Reath

Reath signed a training camp contract, according to Garcia, which suggests the deal is non-guaranteed and features Exhibit 9 and/or Exhibit 10 language. The Exhibit 9 language is the more important of the two for the Suns, who would be protected if Reath were to suffer an injury in camp.

A 6’9″ big man from South Sudan, Reath will be competing for a roster spot this fall in the wake of Mark Williams’ shoulder surgery. Reath has spent each of the past three seasons in the league, having played 146 games for Portland over that span with averages of 6.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game.

The 30-year-old averaged just 8.1 MPG over 32 appearances for the Trail Blazers last season, falling victim to the team’s improved frontcourt depth before he underwent season-ending foot surgery in January. Reath has been a free agent since February, when he was traded to and subsequently waived by Atlanta.

Phoenix also signed Phillip Wheeler and Kennedy Chandler to training camp deals on Friday, Garcia adds (via Twitter). Chandler, a former second-round pick, played 11 games for the Jazz last season, while Wheeler appeared in six games for Philadelphia during the 2024/25 campaign.
