Jalen Green will sit again Sunday vs. San Antonio, but he might be getting close.
Green went full-court five-on-five on Saturday, per Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.
Phoenix essentially brought him in to help replace some of the scoring punch it moved out in the Kevin Durant deal.
A strained right hamstring has delayed that plan — as Green hasn’t played since aggravating the issue during the preseason trip to China.
“It was full-court before practice,” coach Jordan Ott said. “So that part is good.”
Green played all 82 in each of his last two years with the Rockets. Durability was part of the appeal. Now the Suns just want him healthy enough to start his run here.
— Dillon Brooks will miss his fourth straight game. The injury is now being diagnosed as a core muscle strain. Ott praised Brooks’ pain tolerance. Brooks was averaging 19.3 points before going down.
— Two-way guard Isaiah Livers is doubtful. He took a shot to his right hip Friday and didn’t return. Ott said it isn’t related to his surgery, rather a case of bad luck on the hit.
— Mark Williams’ minutes will be managed, Rankin reports. Ott said the Suns will continue to lift him slowly toward a target they’re comfortable with. Williams has averaged 24.4 minutes through five games.
