The Phoenix Suns had a massive surprise for when Devin Booker signed his massive $145 million extension with the team this past week. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the entire Suns roster flew out to Las Vegas, where Booker signed the extension, to celebrate with newly titled, “Mr. Phoenix.” Booker and his teammates had a team dinner to toast the 28-year-old staying in the Valley until the end of the 2030 season, where he’ll be in his mid-30s.
Devin Booker and Mat Ishbia met to discuss direction for Phoenix:
“Devin Booker is Mr. Phoenix. Everything about Booker has been commitment back to the franchise. He’s said privately he wants to retire in Phoenix.”

Charania reiterated Booker’s desire to retire in Phoenix and bring the city its first championship. Ever since he was drafted 14th overall in the 2015 NBA draft, Booker has preached loyalty. His biggest role model being Kobe Bryant, stayed with one organization for over 20 years, and he wants to follow suit with his hero.
The four-time All-Star has put the franchise back on the map, bringing it to its first Finals appearance since 1993. Phoenix fell just two games short of the Larry O’Brien trophy and have freefallen since that moment. However, Booker’s loyalty hasn’t faulter, having endured years of loitering in the lottery to begin his career. The all-time franchise leader in points is determined to add to his lead and bring the team back to prominence.
Suns owner Mat Ishbia stated in his end-of-season press conference that he wants to build a culture and celebrating the commitment of the team’s biggest star is the first step towards that goal. Booker will have his eighth head coach this season in Jordan Ott, and here he hopes its the final step towards a championship.
