Suns Urged to Make Shocking Trade With Bucks Amid Giannis Antetokounmpo News
© Benny Sieu–USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns have to figure out how to best reposition themselves moving forward after a terrible 2024-25 NBA season. There is some belief that a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks could serve them well.

The Bucks, themselves, are another team who are in need of a makeover. The biggest part of that could come from a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade request. Speculation is mounting that the Bucks superstar will ask out of Milwaukee this offseason.

However, perhaps the organization will make one last attempt at keeping Antetokounmpo in town and securing his future in Wisconsin. This is where the Suns come into the picture.

Suns allow Bucks one more try with Giannis through potential trade deal

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report wrote an article with several NBA trade ideas for teams who are 'desperate for a change.' This included a potential blockbuster between the Suns and Bucks.

The deal between the two sides would involve key stars trading places. Favale suggested the following trade.

Phoenix Suns Receive: Damian Lillard, Milwaukee's 2031 first-round pick, Milwaukee's 2031 second-round pick.

Milwaukee Bucks Receive:
Bradley Beal (no-trade clause).

Utah Jazz Receive:
Chris Livingston, 2026 second-round pick (less favorable of Denver and Golden State, via Phoenix).

The thought process here for the Suns was taking a 'gap year.' Favale suggested another deal among the bunch that would ship off Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets, and secure Phoenix's own picks back in return.

This would give the Suns incentive to eat Damian Lillard's massive contract while the star point guard does not even play in 2026-27 due to injury. Phoenix would be rewarded with a high selection in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Favale described the trade as a 'desperation move' for the Bucks. However, he thought it would still be worthwhile in terms of buying them more time with the Greek Freak.

The Suns get rewarded for offering a helping hand by securing a couple of picks from the Bucks that could prove very valuable in the long run.
