Things can’t quite seem to get better for Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić.
In the midst of losing a his starting spot and subsequently his spot in the entire rotation, his old friend, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, came back and had something to say about the estranged center.
In the latest episode of Green’s podcast, The Draymond Green show with Baron Davis, he and Davis discussed the various scuffles that transpired in the NBA recently, namely Houston Rockets’ Amen Thompson and Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro and Nurkic’s scuffle between Dallas Mavericks forward Naji Marshall that got him suspended for three games.
“I did not quite understand (Nurkic),” Green said. “(The Suns) were about to play us the next day. And he just, out of no where, picked an argument and then swung. And I hope that brother got the help he needs. It was just, like, out of nowhere, like something’s wrong in life. He must be going through a really hard time in life to swing like that. Or maybe, possibly, he didn’t want to play against the team he was set to face the next day. That could be a thought. It was just surprising to see him swing like that, and then get pushed on the ground, cry, start whining about it, and grab his face. I was really shocked. You can’t swing and then get pushed on the ground, grab your face, and cry about it. Once you swing, you’re the one who set the tone for what it is. I was just a little surprised. But that brother needs some help, and I hope he gets it.”
Nurkic and Green have history. Last season, Nurkic said that Green “needs help,” after being ejected swinging at Nurkic in a game and being ejected.
Although Green’s comments towards Nurkic this time around were unprovoked, the rivalry between the two continues.
