Legendary NBA coach and executive Pat Riley once said that a playoff series doesn’t really begin until the home team loses a game.
That finally happened in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinal series between the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers. Behind 30 points from James Harden, 21 from Donovan Mitchell and a 6-for-8 three-point performance from Max Strus off the bench, the Cavs won 117-113 to take a 3-2 series lead.
Cleveland rallied from down as many as 15 points to force overtime, but didn’t get there without some controversy. At the end of regulation Jarrett Allen collided with Ausar Thompson going for a loose ball at the end of regulation that didn’t get a foul call from official Tony Brothers.
When asked about the call after the game, Brothers said he saw “incidental contact,” between Allen and Thompson, but that the call would be reviewed as part of the “Last Two-Minute Report.”
The Cavs won the extra frame 14-10, with Mitchell scoring seven of Cleveland’s points to put the top-seeded Pistons on the brink of elimination for the second series in a row.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. While Harden and Mitchell are the household names, Strus once again proved himself a reliable postseason performer. With that being said, can you name the active NBA players with at least 100 playoff three-pointers in their career?
Good luck!
