The Best-Case Scenario For The Timberwolves' Playoff Hopes

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a significant chance of making it into the Playoffs ahead of the final day of the 2024-25 regular season. They need to win the game against the Utah Jazz to secure at least a sixth seed in the Western Conference.

Even though they have a shot at winning the sixth seed, Minnesota could go as high as the fourth seed, as they could get home-court advantage in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

The final day of the regular season will be one to watch, especially for the Western Conference teams. Minnesota is one of the teams that are part of that group contesting Playoff spots, but thankfully, the Timberwolves do not have a complicated path if they want to make the postseason.

All the Timberwolves need to do is win against the Utah Jazz. Since the Jazz are one of the worst teams in the league and have nine players injured, it is hard to go against Minnesota for an automatic spot in the Western Conference Playoffs. However, the biggest question is where they could end up with a win.

A Fourth-Seeded Timberwolves Team Will Play Against The Clippers

The Timberwolves could get the fourth seed if they win against Utah, Houston wins against Denver, and Memphis wins against Dallas. In this instance, no matter what happens between Golden State and the LA Clippers, Minnesota would play against the latter in the fourth-seed vs fifth-seed matchup in the first round.

That would be a fantastic achievement for the Timberwolves because they have been through a hectic season. Minnesota was fighting for the first seed in the 2023-24 season and this campaign has been a rough one due to the inconsistencies with coach Chris Finch's team.

Now, they have a shot at making it to the fourth seed if the right results happen to Minnesota. However, that looks unlikely due to the Houston Rockets' place in the West, as they have the second seed, and they are willing to rest their best players ahead of the Playoffs.

A Rematch Against Denver Could Still Happen

Another big scenario for the West is the Timberwolves going against the Nuggets again. This could happen with a Denver win against Houston, Golden State winning against the Clippers, and Minnesota beating Utah.

That sets up another fantastic matchup between Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves against the Nikola Jokic-led Nuggets. Despite the Nuggets being one of the most talented teams in the league, they struggle against the Timberwolves, losing their last six games to Minnesota dating back to their Playoff series in 2024.

That could be another best-case scenario for the Timberwolves, but they will aim for the stars with a win and a potential matchup against the Clippers as the fourth seed, the Nuggets as the fifth seed, or the LA Lakers as the sixth seed.
