The Bucks Go as Giannis Goes

His early-season dominance is powering Milwaukee on both ends.

Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t just the best player on the Milwaukee Bucks — he’s the system. Through the first four games of the 2025–26 NBA season, he’s been the offense, the defense, the tone-setter, the closer, and the reason Milwaukee has a pulse in the Eastern Conference.

It’s not a surprise. We’ve seen this before. But this season, it feels even more obvious: the Bucks go as Giannis goes.

In an NBA loaded with talent, no one is doing more for their team right now than Giannis. Through four games, he’s putting up absurd numbers:

  • 36.3 points per game
  • 14.0 rebounds
  • 7.0 assists
  • 69.5% shooting from the field
  • 57.1% from three
  • All in just 32.8 minutes per game

These aren’t empty stats. They’re winning stats. Game-changing stats. Numbers that are keeping Milwaukee competitive while a retooled roster still finds its rhythm.

Here’s how his first four games looked:

  • Oct. 22 vs Wizards: 37 PTS, 14 REB, 5 AST (W)
  • Oct. 24 @ Raptors: 31 PTS, 20 REB, 7 AST (W)
  • Oct. 26 @ Cavaliers: 40 PTS, 14 REB, 9 AST (L)
  • Oct. 28 vs Knicks: 37 PTS, 8 REB, 7 AST (W)

That’s not just dominance — that’s control. He’s setting the tone early, anchoring possessions late, and doing it with efficiency that makes defenses fold. Giannis isn’t forcing shots or chasing stats. He’s making the game bend to him.

And it’s not just on offense. He’s flying in for help-side blocks, closing out on shooters, switching across five positions, and boxing out two guys at a time. His presence on the defensive end remains the Bucks’ most reliable anchor.

This season is different. Damian Lillard is gone. The team around Giannis is younger, less proven, and still figuring itself out. That means more weight falls on No. 34 — and he’s handling it like he always does: head down, full speed, no excuses.

The Bucks aren’t asking Giannis to lead. They’re asking him to be everything. And so far, he’s answered.

The most impressive part? He doesn’t look strained. He looks in control — like he’s exactly where he wants to be. Milwaukee is 3-1 to start the season, and every one of those wins has Giannis’ fingerprints all over it.

That’s the reality in Milwaukee. Giannis doesn’t just make them better. He is the reason they’re relevant, competitive, and dangerous. Every possession runs through him. Every game plan starts with him. Every hope the Bucks have of returning to the top of the East is built on his shoulders.

And four games in, those shoulders look as strong as ever.

Milwaukee may not have the star power it once did, but it has Giannis. And right now, that’s more than enough.
