Since the Cleveland Cavaliers committed to Donovan Mitchell in the summer and changed their lineup, everyone has been wondering how well the team would do.

Some people thought they’d immediately become favorites to make the Eastern Conference Finals.

Others feared that they wouldn’t be nearly as good as people hoped.

And some thought they’d stay about the same

Well, after a few weeks into the new season it’s very clear that the Cavs are something special.

It’s not just because of Mitchell, but he has certainly helped the team meet a whole new level.

Kirk Goldsberry dug deep into the stats and released an efficiency landscape for the NBA, highlighting the teams that are doing best – and worst – at offense and defense.

The worst offense in the league goes to the Los Angeles Lakers, who are far behind everyone else, although the Charlotte Hornets aren’t too far ahead of them.

The Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs are all battling it out for the worst defensive efficiency in the NBA while the Golden State Warriors are falling fast too.

Then there are the Cavs, who are the third-best offense in the NBA and the third-best defense too.

This goes to show just how much the team has grown.

Cavs Climbing

This is definitive proof that the Cavs are one of the best teams in the league.

They are only behind teams like the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns and that is a good company to be in.

Cleveland has a chance to get even better in the weeks and months ahead.

They have already put away some impressive wins but they can gain even more if they stick with the lineups that have been working, avoid injuries, and don’t gas out.
