The Washington Wizards acquired Trae Young at the 2026 NBA trade deadline and got five games out of him in a season that ended with Washington winning the first-overall draft pick. But if they’re going to bring Young back for 2026-27, they may have to work for it.
The eight-year veteran who turns 28 in September is declining the option for the final year of his contract and will become a free agent. Young would have made $48.9 million next year, but instead decided to test the market for a new contract now.
While he could absolutely still re-sign with Washington, he will likely have some interest from teams in need of a starting point guard. Before he was limited to 15 total games in 2025-26, Young averaged 24.2 points and an NBA-best 11.6 assists-per-game in 76 contests in 2024-25.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to lead the NBA in assists per game for an NBA season can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
