Happy 33rd birthday to 10-time NBA All-Star, five-time All-NBA selection, 2020 NBA Finals winner and 2012 first-overall draft pick, Anthony Davis!
The then-New Orleans Hornets drafted Davis after a dominant freshman year at Kentucky, where Davis swept every major Player of the Year award en route to a national championship victory over Kansas, where he scored just six points but hauled in 16 rebounds while dishing out five assists. Davis then made a trip with Team USA to the London Olympics before playing a second in the NBA, winning a gold medal despite his limited role.
In 14 NBA seasons, he’s carved himself out a future Hall of Fame Career despite battling injuries for much of it. Davis has played 807 games in his career, averaging 24.0 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks-per-contest. Now on the downside of his career, Davis was part of the infamous Luka Doncic trade that sent Luka from Dallas to Los Angeles. About one year (and just 29 games played) later, he was traded again to the Washington Wizards, where he has yet to play while rehabbing a hand injury.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. In his prime, Davis was nearly as feared a defender as he was an offensive player, leading the NBA in blocks-per-game on three occasions. With that being said, how many of the NBA blocks champion since the NBA/ABA merger can you name in seven minutes?
Good luck!
