The San Antonio Spurs may have fallen 104-102 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals to the Minnesota Timberwolves, but Victor Wembanyama still showed why he was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
Wemby blocked a playoff-record 12 shots (with eight in the first half), but he went 8-for-17 from the field and 0-for-8 from three-point range as the Spurs fell at home. The Wolves got a massive boost from the early return of Anthony Edwards, who scored 18 points in 25 minutes of action off the bench.
Wembanyama did finish with an 11-point, 15-rebound, 12-block triple-double, but will need to be more efficient on offense for the Spurs to even the series at 1-1 on Wednesday.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Between Wemby and Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert, there are plenty of Defensive Player of the Year awards on display in this Western Conference Semifinal. With that being said, can you name every NBA Defensive Player of the Year?
Good luck!
