Chicago Bulls legend Derrick Rose officially entered some elite company over the weekend, seeing his No. 1 retired in the Windy City and joining names like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in the rafters at the United Center.
The retirement, which was announced back in August, followed the Bulls 106-103 win over Boston.
Rose was drafted first-overall by his hometown Bulls in the 2008 NBA Draft after making the NCAA title game with John Calipari at Memphis. He started 80 games as a rookie, averaging 16.8 points and 6.3 assists-per-game in his introductory campaign to win Rookie of the Year. Two seasons later, he’d become the youngest player ever to be named NBA MVP at just 22 years old. While injuries derailed the career Rose was on pace for, he’s still a treasured figure in Bulls history.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to be named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player since 1955-56 can you name in nine minutes?
Good luck!
