For the first time since 2022, the NBA Slam Dunk contest will have a winner not named Mac McClung.
With McClung deciding not to participate this year, the field is a group of first-time competitors. Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes is the veteran of the group in his seventh NBA season, and he has far more dunks this season than the rest of his competitors. Hayes has 80 slams so far in 2025-26, while the combination of second-year player Keshad Johnson (Miami Heat) and rookies Jase Richardson (Orlando Magic) and Carter Bryant (San Antonio Spurs) have totaled just 22 all together.
Richardson does bring a winning pedigree into his first dunk contest, as his father won the event twice in a row in the early 2000’s.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to win the NBA Slam Dunk Contest since 1984-85 can you name in six minutes?
Good luck!
