While Cooper Flagg was a shoo-in to be taken with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, the next-closest thing to a certainty was Dylan Harper to San Antonio. Harper averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in his one year at Rutgers while shooting 48.4 percent from the field. He also comes to the league with NBA pedigree thanks to his father Ron Harper, who played 15 years in the Association and won five championships with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. Despite creating a potential log-jam at guard with Stephon Castle and De’Aaron Fox already on the roster, Harper’s size (listed at 6’6”, 215 at Rutgers) and all-around offensive game made him impossible to pass on.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. The last two NBA Rookies of the Year (Victor Wembanyama and Castle) are both Spurs, and despite the obvious talent of Flagg, Harper might have the tools to make it three in a row for San Antonio. With that being said, how many of the players to be taken second-overall in the lottery era (since 1985) of the NBA Draft can you name in six minutes?
Good luck!
