The Los Angeles Clippers are named as a potential destination for Bradley Beal should the Phoenix Suns follow the Milwaukee Bucks’ playbook of waiving and stretching Damian Lillard’s huge contract.
“If Bradley Beal were to be bought out of his contract, perhaps the Clippers would be a player (for him). The Clippers have always been advantageous about getting stars on the cheap,” ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk said on NBA Today.
“In the past, they’ve gotten point guards like John Wall, Rajon Rondo, Russell Westbrook. They could be very advantageous if something like that unforeseen (would happen), if Bradley Beal would be bought (out),” he added.
The Los Angeles Clippers have one of the oldest teams in the entire league, with Kawhi Leonard, James Harden , and Norman Powell as their core players. Acquiring Beal from the free agent market, if the price is right, should give them another veteran who can score and shoot from deep.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been fairly busy in free agency. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania , the team signed Nicolas Batum on a two-year $11.5 million extension and Brook Lopez on a two-year, $18 million deal on top of giving James Harden a new two-year, $81.5 million contract.
Lopez, 37, was one of the Milwaukee Bucks’ most reliable players last 2024-25 season, as he averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.9 blocks on 51/37/83 shooting splits across 80 regular season games.
He will play backup behind starting center Ivica Zubac. Following Lopez’s arrival, the Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly waived Drew Eubanks, who will join the Sacramento Kings on a one-year deal.
