Thomas Bryant’s deal with Cavs is non-guaranteed

Veteran center Thomas Bryant’s agreement with the Cavaliers is a non-guaranteed contract, sources confirmed to Hoops Wire.

That gives Cleveland 14 standard deals heading into training camp next week, but Bryant will need to prove himself to stick. But that isn’t likely to be an issue. After all, his addition provides extra depth behind Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, offering experience and general toughness in reserve.

Bryant recently worked out for the Knicks, reportedly “really impressing” during the session before New York opted to add backcourt help instead. The 6-foot-10 veteran then landed with the Cavs, where he’ll enter his ninth NBA season.

He appeared in 66 games last year with the Heat and Pacers, averaging 6.5 points and 3.8 rebounds on 50.8 percent shooting. Bryant also played a key reserve role in Indiana’s second-half run to the Finals.

For his career, the former Indiana Hoosier has suited up for the Lakers, Wizards, Nuggets, Heat and Pacers, winning a ring with Denver in 2023.

The Cavs open camp Tuesday in Florida.
