The Dallas Mavericks seem ready for a fire sale amid a disappointing start to the season. Everyone, save for Cooper Flagg, could probably be had at the right price. Or even a close-enough price. The Mavs are going to collect calls on just about everyone from Kyrie Irving to Anthony Davis, and it's possible that one, two or many more names could be dealt.
To move Davis, though, you have to keep in mind several factors. He's been injured a lot. He'll likely miss some time, so any team that trades for him has to be willing to take a major risk. It has to be a team that is desperate to break into the next tier of competition.
The other thing to keep in mind is his salary, which for 2025 is $54.1 million. That makes it hard to trade for him, as you'd likely need to trade a player of yours who makes close to that amount, or a couple of players who can match that figure.
Most teams don't have the flexibility or the accrued talent needed to pull off a trade like this without including four or five other teams to pull it off. These three teams, however, can make this trade relatively easily, while also needing a player like Davis to help fortify the squad.
The Suns find themselves in an interesting scenario. They've gotten off to an 8-6 start and have won 7 of their last 9. If the Suns are serious about winning with Devin Booker, they'll need to swing a trade for Davis. Sending Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green, as well as the 2027 and 2029 draft picks the team currently owns, could be the foundation of a Davis deal. The Suns can't afford to waste another year of Devin Booker's career, and this move fortifies them for a real playoff push. The Mavericks, meanwhile, get four controllable assets, with Brooks being a candidate to be traded again.
The Bucks could make a major move to pair Davis with Giannis Antetokounmpo. This would create arguably one of the most terrifying low-post combos in the league. The Bucks could send Kyle Kuzma, Bobby Portis, Kevin Porter Jr., Taurean Prince, as well as their 2027 and 2032 first-round picks for Davis, Dante Exum and Brandon Williams. Dallas then can flip guys like Portis and Kuzma for more assets, while getting two unprotected first-round picks.
For the Chicago Bulls, this trade is a lot easier. They could send out a package of Nikola Vucevic, Zach Collins and Jevon Carter plus their 2026 and 2029 first-round picks and their 2030 and 2032 second-round picks. While this is the least impressive offer, it's hard to imagine getting much more in exchange for a 33-year-old with chronic health issues and a penchant to navigate ways off of franchises he's no longer interested in being a part of.
