In addition to the playoffs, the hottest NBA topic is the future of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. And with the latest report suggesting he's now open to exploring the possibility of leaving Milwaukee, fans and media alike are starting to discuss possible destinations.
But if Antetokounmpo is traded, the Bucks will want to bring in the right kind of assets to help them rebuild, especially considering they are lacking the control over draft capital.
A player of the caliber of a two-time MVP and NBA champion like Antetokounmpo will be highly coveted, but there are only a select number of teams who can offer him a chance to win and also put together a package worthy of the future Hall of Famer.
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs are long removed from the years of being a consistent title contender. However, San Antonio does have a star to build around already in place, and it's very possible Antetokounmpo could be intrigued at the thought of playing with Victor Wembanyama.
While the Spurs were competitive at times before Wembanyama was shutdown due to a blood clot condition, they finished with only 34 wins and in 13th place in the Western Conference.
Assuming Wembanyama's health, the one way to ignite the next era of Spurs basketball - one that will include Gregg Popovich in a front office role instead of as head coach - is to bring in an established veteran still in his prime. And who better to pair with Wembanyama than another physical specimen like Antetokounmpo?
The duo would be a force to be reckoned on both sides of the court and would likely attract other players willing to take less money to be along for the ride. De'Aaron Fox allows the Spurs to create a rare modern day Big 3.
For another plus that can't be dismissed, the Spurs' culture also seems to fit Antetokounmpo's personality.
Houston Rockets
After a great regular season, the Rockets were sent home by the Golden State Warriors in the first round. So instead of preparing for playoff games, they are left trying to better position themselves to compete for a championship next year.
As is, Houston will be a factor again next season, but will also likely end up bounced early in the postseason. The Rockets have tons of talent and did produce a 52-win season as the West's No. 2 seed, but are clearly in need of one more piece, ideally a star who can carry the load when necessary.
Many have speculated that Houston will pursue Kevin Durant. But if not Durant, Antetokounmpo would undoubtedly take them to a different level.
Antetokounmpo would also offer more defensively and is six years younger than Durant, providing more longevity and opportunity to build chemistry over multiple seasons.
New York Knicks
In the past, it seemed as if the Knicks were simply waiting for Antetokounmpo to be available. New York has managed to build a contender without him and are in the midst of a highly competitive series with the Celtics.
Getting Antetokounmpo to the Knicks would be more complicated than the others after New York shipped out assets last offseason to acquire Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges in separate trades, however.
Antetokounmpo will have to demand a trade to New York in particular to make the Knicks a viable possibility. The Knicks would have to breakup the current team as well.
Other teams to watch are the Miami Heat, New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder.
