Thunder Get Chet Holmgren Injury Update After Missing One Game

The Oklahoma City Thunder have been remarkable through 51 games, as they've posted a 42-9 record thus far.

There is always a buzz around Phil Jackson's 40-20 philosophy. The Thunder didn't just win 40 games before 20 losses, they did it before they tallied ten losses.

Now, Oklahoma City is continuing to explore their ceiling as they've played just one game with both Isaiah Hartenstein and Chet Holmgren on the floor.

Holmgren, the No. 2 overall selection in 2022, has missed a large chunk of the current season. He suffered a rare hip injury on Nov. 10 and has played just one game since then.

The Thunder star center logged just 22 minutes in his initial return, which came on the first leg of a back-to-back. Coming off an injury that sidelined him for months, it made sense for Oklahoma City to rest him in the second game in as many nights.

While most of the NBA enjoyed a day off with the Super Bowl taking place, the Thunder are set to hit the hardwood on their home floor in a contest against the struggling New Orleans Pelicans.

With Oklahoma City returning to action, Holmgren is off the injury report and will play in his second contest since coming off the injury.

For the Thunder, they get good timing as Holmgren gets to ramp up just before the All-Star break, which will allow him to further rest and return to action and form even quicker.

With Holmgren set to play his second game alongside Hartenstein, the Thunder have plenty to figure out and 30 games to do so while the Gonzaga product tries to get his legs back under him.

The Thunder are the top seed in the Western Conference with quite a comfortable lead while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is playing at an MVP level, which gives them some comfort and wiggle room as they deploy the new lineup.
