The 2025 NBA All-Star Game starters were announced on Thursday night and to nobody’s surprise, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder was named as one of the two Western Conference backcourt starters.
Shai will join Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors in the West backcourt. Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Nikola Jokić of the Denver Nuggets are the frontcourt starters for the West.
This is a well-deserved honor for Shai, who is currently having arguably the best season of his career. This is his third All-Star appearance and it is his second time he has been named an All-Star starter.
Of course, SGA has had an incredible season. The 26-year-old is averaging 32.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 53.0% from the field and 34.8% from three this season. He currently leads the NBA in points per game and is currently the frontrunner to win his first career MVP award.
Shai has been dominant on both ends of the court this season and is a major reason why the Thunder have a 36-7 record, which is the best in the West.
The superstar point guard may not be the only All-Star that the Thunder have this season as Jalen Williams is in the running to be named a reserve. Of course, Oklahoma City's head coach Mark Daigneault and one of his assistants will be coaching two of the All-Star teams, so the Thunder will be well represented in San Francisco.
Fans can catch the 2025 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 16 in San Francisco on TNT with tipoff coming at 8:00 p.m. EST.
