Tickets To See LeBron James Potentially Break Scoring Record Against Thunder Are As High As $92,000
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

LeBron James being on the verge of passing the scoring record is increasing ticket prices.

LeBron James is one of the greatest athletes in the history of the NBA, and there is no doubt that he is among the most popular basketball players in the league, if not the flat-out most popular. He is still dominating with the Los Angeles Lakers at the age of 38 and LeBron James is currently averaging 30.2 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 7.1 APG.

As of right now, LeBron James is on the verge of breaking the scoring record, with only 89 points to go. He is most likely to break it against either the Thunder or the Bucks. There's no doubt that James passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will be a huge occasion, and a lot of people likely want to be in attendance. The tickets for the Lakers' have gotten expensive as a result, with a recent post from Bleacher Report revealing that tickets for their contest against the Thunder are as high as $92,000.

It makes sense that people want to be part of a historic moment by attending the game where LeBron James breaks the scoring record, but $92,000 seems slightly excessive. With that being said, it is clear that people are willing to pay to be in attendance for a big-time occasion, and ticket prices will probably keep getting higher as we gain more clarity on when LeBron James will break the record.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Is Excited For LeBron James To Break His Scoring Record

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar currently holds the scoring record, and he seems like he is excited for LeBron James to pass him. The Lakers legend mentioned that he would "celebrate" LeBron James passing him, noting that he wouldn't be bothered by LeBron James breaking his record.

“When I broke Wilt Chamberlain’s scoring record in 1984 -- the year LeBron was born -- it bothered Wilt, who’d had a bit of a one-sided rivalry with me since I’d started doing so well in the NBA,” he wrote. “I don’t feel that way toward LeBron. Not only will I celebrate his accomplishment, I will sing his praises unequivocally.”

Previously, LeBron James claimed that he never thought he could catch Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in all-time scoring and break his record. To do that while still being a dominant force is special, and LeBron James' longevity is second to none.

We will see when LeBron James ends up breaking the scoring record, but it is clear that it will happen soon. Though a lot of fans clearly expect him to break it against the Thunder, there's a chance that he will end up breaking it against teams like the New Orleans Pelicans or the Milwaukee Bucks as well.
