Tim Hardaway Jr.’s Urge to Punch LeBron James Takes Unexpected Turn After Lakers Star’s Brutal Comeback

Mic’d-up moments often reveal the NBA’s best unscripted trash talk. That was exactly the case when LeBron James and Tim Hardaway Jr. shared a hilarious midgame exchange during the March 15, 2026, matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets.

The clip surfaced on social media shortly after, showing Hardaway Jr. reflecting on a play where he chose a safer finish instead of trying to dunk over James. In basketball slang, players sometimes say they’d “punch” the ball through the rim, meaning a powerful dunk. That wording sparked some weird interpretations online. However, the full footage told a very different story.

During the mic’d-up sequence on March 15, Hardaway Jr. joked about the play while chatting with James on the court.

“If I was like three years younger, I would’ve boomed on you.”

James didn’t miss a beat, delivering a quick comeback.

“You would’ve punched me? What if I was like three years younger too?”

The playful back-and-forth also goes to show the mutual respect between the two veterans.
