Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves escaped with a 128-126 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. It was a crucial win on the road for Edwards and Co., who were coming off a 137-128 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
Edwards was the main man for the Wolves on Wednesday, leading his team with a game-high 30 points on 11-of-23 shooting. The four-time All-Star came up clutch in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 points to hold off Toronto.
It was another strong all-around performance for Edwards, who also added eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, a block and one three-pointer in 38 minutes of action.
Edwards has been dealing with an elbow injury. In fact, he was initially listed as questionable to play against the Raptors. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard went through his usual pregame routine and did not encounter any issues. This led Minnesota to give him the green light to play.
Edwards struggled with his shot on Wednesday night. He stepped it up in crunch time, though, leading his team to a hard-fought win despite playing through an injury.
Edwards announced a concerning update after the win. After recently being named an All-Star for a fourth consecutive season, the 24-year-old revealed on Wednesday that he might sit out the festivities.
“I’m pretty banged up,” he said, via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “I might not be playing. I hope it’s competitive.”
The 2026 NBA All-Star Game is scheduled on Feb. 15, which is still more than a week away. The fact that Edwards has already hinted at skipping the exhibition this early on is concerning.
The Wolves are back in action on Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans. That will be the first of four home games for Minnesota before the All-Star break. Given his statement on Wednesday night, Edwards’ status for all those games will be worth monitoring.
The Wolves improved to 32-20 after their win over the Raptors. As of writing, they are fifth in the Western Conference.
