Timberwolves Coach Speaks Out on Ugly Game 2 Draymond Green Incident

Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch, who has been on the job as a head coach for five years now, has earned a reputation for being frank and open in his comments to questioners. On Saturday, Finch met with the media ahead of his team's Game 3 mathcup against the Warriors, and was finally able to address one of the lingering issues that emerged from Minnesota's convincing Game 2 win.

That win evened the series at a game a piece, and put Minnesota in a better position to take advantage of the hamstring injury suffered by Stephen Curry in the first game of the series. But it was marred by a fan who was disciplined for lobbing racially-charged insults at Warriors star Draymond Green

Finch was not happy about the incident, but was glad that the team moved quickly to address the problem. “There’s zero place for any of that in sports and society and I was proud of the way the organization acted swiftly,” Finch said, via ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

Finch continued: “Where we are as a society, it feels like everybody feels like they have the right to say whatever the heck whenever they want to, regardless of being respectful. … I probably have noticed a little more loudmouths around the court than in years past.”

While the incident was an ugly one, coach Steve Kerr also spoke on the subject this week. He told reporters that he does not pain the entire home crowd at Target Center with a racist brush simply because of the actions of some bad actors.

"I never take words from one person and label a city with that. There's just going to be individuals -- sometimes they're drunk, whatever -- who cross the line. It's unfortunate. But it doesn't at all impact my view of Minneapolis," Kerr said.

The Warriors and Timberwolves are set to tip off at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
