Naz Reid notched a season-high 22 points, spearheading a balanced Minnesota Timberwolves attack in a 120-96 rout of the injury-depleted Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.
Reid set the tone early with 10 first-quarter points and poured in 19 by halftime. His night peaked with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to close the third quarter, pushing the Wolves’ lead to 32 and effectively putting the game out of reach.
Minnesota put six players in double figures, including all five starters. Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert each scored 15, while Anthony Edwards had a quieter outing, finishing with 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting.
Top pick Cooper Flagg and Brandon Williams paced Dallas with 15 points each. The Mavericks, playing the second night of a back-to-back after Sunday’s win over Portland, fell to 1–2 in such games this season.
Dallas entered the night severely shorthanded. Daniel Gafford (ankle) and Dereck Lively II (knee) were both held out for injury management, and Anthony Davis remained sidelined with a calf issue. That forced rookie Moussa Cissé into his first career start.
The Mavericks kept things close early in the second quarter, trailing by seven, but Minnesota surged to a 61-44 halftime advantage and never looked back. McDaniels’ trio of consecutive 3-pointers in the third quarter stretched the lead to 30 as the Wolves took complete control.
Minnesota continued its recent outside shooting struggles, hitting 32% from beyond the arc (14-for-44), marking its fourth straight game under 33%. Dallas, meanwhile, shot just 9-of-30 from deep and entered the night with the league’s second-worst long-range percentage.
