The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a two-way contract with forward Enrique Freeman, NBA agents Keith Kreiter and Sam Cipriano told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

A Cleveland native and University of Akron product, Freeman turned 25 earlier this week. He was selected 50th overall by the Pacers in the 2024 NBA Draft and appeared in 22 games for Indiana as a rookie, averaging 2.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 8.2 minutes per contest.

Freeman saw more consistent production in the G League, putting up 16.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.4 blocks in 14 games with the Indiana Mad Ants. He continued to impress at Summer League in Las Vegas this month, averaging 16.6 points and 9.6 rebounds on a blistering 72.5% from the field, including 55.6% from three-point range.

Despite those numbers, the Pacers did not have a two-way slot available for Freeman and pulled his qualifying offer last week, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Minnesota currently has second-year big man Jesse Edwards and 2025 second-rounder Rocco Zikarsky in two of its three two-way spots. Freeman is expected to fill the final opening.

The Timberwolves still have a two-way qualifying offer on the table for 2024 second-round pick Tristen Newton. If Newton accepts it — and the Wolves don’t first pull the offer — Minnesota would need to waive one of its current two-way players. They are expected to waive Jesse Edwards.
