The Minnesota Timberwolves received rough news on the extent of Anthony Edwards’ injury early Sunday.
Edwards suffered a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee during Saturday’s win over the Denver Nuggets, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. While Edwards avoided any ligament damage, he is expected to miss multiple weeks.

In other words, Edwards is likely to miss at least a large portion of the Western Conference semifinals, provided the Timberwolves close out the Nuggets. They currently hold a 3-1 lead in the series.
Edwards had already been dealing with a knee injury heading into the playoffs. He was in serious pain after suffering the injury and could not put any weight on his left leg as he was helped to the locker room (video here).
The Timberwolves simply cannot catch a break in the injury department. In addition to Edwards, they lost Donte DiVincenzo for the season to a torn Achilles in their Game 4 victory. Minnesota won thanks to an unexpected 43-point eruption from backup guard Ayo Dosunmu.
Edwards was averaging 23 points per game for Minnesota in the first four games of the series. He was just 1-of-8 with five points at the time of his injury during Saturday’s contest.
