The Minnesota Timberwolves have a knack for tightly-contested wins as of late.

Minnesota held off the San Antonio Spurs 112-110 at Target Center on Sunday night for their third consecutive victory, coming yet again in nail-biting fashion.

Much like their Christmas Day game against the Dallas Mavericks, the Timberwolves blew a double-digit lead to hang on against a Spurs comeback in the second half.

On Friday, the Wolves rallied late from 16 points down to defeat the Houston Rockets on the road, as the team continues to narrowly escape with victories in a recent stretch late in 2024.

The game on Sunday night was delayed an hour as the Wolves had an issue with the home court.

Donte DiVincenzo stayed hot off the bench as he continues to find his confidence again, leading the team with 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 5-for-10 from three. Minnesota shot poorly from three, hitting 25% of shots (11-for-44) but DiVincenzo's hot hand kept them in the game against San Antonio. He also had seven rebounds and four assists in the effort.

In his last six games, DiVincenzo is averaging 17 points on 50% shooting from the floor, 49% from three and 3.7 three-pointers made per game. The previous 25 games saw the sharpshooter struggle, averaging eight points on 35% shooting, 32% from deep and two three-pointers made per game.

"Confidence is always high, guys are cheering me on," DiVincenzo said after the game. "Playing with a lot of swag so I'm feeling good."

After a rough first quarter that saw Minnesota trailing 33-25, the team exploded on both sides of the court, outscoring the Spurs 32-12 to take a commanding 57-45 halftime advantage.

The Wolves have a knack for letting a lead slip through their hands this season, and it happened again as the Spurs rallied back to make it a close contest in the second half. Both teams were tied at 82 entering the final quarter.

Momentum shifted just under five minutes left to play, as Julius Randle was called for an offensive foul against Victor Wembanyama while scoring a basket inside. Wolves head coach Chris Finch challenged the call and it was overturned, rewarding Randle two points and it would give Minnesota a lead it wouldn't give up the rest of the way.

Randle and Anthony Edwards combined to shoot 1-for-16 from beyond the arc against San Antonio. Randle finished with 16 points and Edwards had 14. Minnesota's bench shined, as DiVincenzo (26), Naz Reid (11), Nickeil Alexander-Walker (6) and Josh Minott (5) combined for 48 points in the win.

The Timberwolves (17-14) will next take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (26-5), who have the best record in the Western Conference. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Paycom Center.
