Timberwolves Notes: Anthony Edwards, Mike Conley, Naz Reid

After pouring in 40 points in Friday’s win, including 14 in the fourth quarter, Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards sounded like a star who believes the window is wide open.

According to The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski, Edwards sees no reason the Timberwolves can’t make another deep run if they bring the same edge every night.

“I feel like if we play every team how we play the best teams in the league, I feel like we’ve got a chance,” Edwards said. “It always starts with me.”

It was ambitious, maybe overly so in the West, but the confidence wasn’t hard to understand given how Minnesota has looked in big games.

Conley embraces role

Veteran guard Mike Conley is back with Minnesota after a brief tour through Chicago and Charlotte, and he’s clear-eyed about what comes next. Speaking to Andrew Dukowitz of Zone Coverage, Conley acknowledged the minutes may fluctuate.

“I can be the stop gap here and there or the pinch hitter when you need me,” Conley said. “I’m prepared for that.”

Reid wants another

Backup big Naz Reid already owns one Sixth Man of the Year trophy and wouldn’t mind a second. “Yeah, for sure. I need another one,” Reid said, via Chris Hine of the Star Tribune. Winning, he added, still comes first.
