The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Golden State Warriors in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals on Thursday to even up the series at 1-1 behind 24 points from Julius Randle and 20 from Anthony Edwards.
There was a scary moment in the first half when Edwards injured his left ankle and went to the locker room. The All-Star shooting guard needed help leaving the floor and some thought he would be done for the game.
However, Edwards played in the second half, prompting Randle to call him "Wolverine." Edwards has managed to recover from injuries quickly this season for the Timberwolves, who are looking to reach the conference finals for the second straight year.
Randle's comment went viral on social media, so much so that the Timberwolves posted it on X, along with some other famous Edwards nicknames.

Edwards scored 13 of his 20 points after hurting his ankle. Randle, who is in his first season with the Timberwolves, has been in awe of Edwards all season.
"He's one of the more resilient people that I know," Randle told ESPN. "Nothing holds him down. He never misses games. For as much attention and effort teams do to try to stop him, he's never one to sit out a game.
"I don't know, he's like Ironman. I've seen him get hit, get knocked down so many times. Better off, he's like Wolverine. He gets hurt and he does something in the back. I don't know what the hell he does ... but he comes out and he balls. That's what he does."
The Timberwolves need to win either Game 3 or Game 4 in Golden State to reclaim home-court advantage in the best-of-seven series.
Edwards, 23, is expected to play in Game 3 on Saturday afternoon. A three-time All-Star, Edwards is averaging 25.3 points in the 2025 playoffs.
