Timberwolves Send Strong Message to Anthony Edwards on Friday Amid Playoffs

Despite trailing 2-0 in the Western Conference finals to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is still earning high praise. The young star has been sensational throughout the 2024-25 NBA season, continuing his rise as one of the league’s premier talents.

Minnesota handled the Los Angeles Lakers in five games during the first round of the playoffs, then replicated the feat against the Golden State Warriors in the second round. Throughout these matchups, Edwards solidified his reputation as one of the NBA’s emerging faces.

As the Timberwolves prepare to host Game 3 on Saturday, Edwards received some powerful recognition. On Friday, the team sent out a bold, two-word message that echoed across social media:

"WELL DESERVED."

That message came as Edwards was officially named to the All-NBA Second Team for the second time in his career.

Edwards played in 79 of 82 regular-season games and put up impressive numbers:

  • 27.6 points per game
  • 4.5 assists
  • 5.7 rebounds

He’s maintained strong production in the postseason as well, averaging 26.3 points per game over 12 contests so far.

Drafted No. 1 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Georgia, Edwards has now made three All-Star appearances. His All-NBA Second Team selection this year places him in elite company.

Game 3 between Minnesota and Oklahoma City tips off Saturday, with Game 4 following on Monday. If necessary, Game 5 is set for May 28, with Games 6 and 7 scheduled for May 30 and June 1, respectively.

Edwards is proving he’s not just the future of the Timberwolves, he’s one of the NBA’s brightest stars today.
