Timberwolves Signing Tyrese Martin to One-Year Deal
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Timberwolves are signing guard/forward Tyrese Martin to a one-year contract, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

While details weren’t reported, Martin’s deal is likely non-guaranteed and could lead to a spot with the Iowa Wolves of the G League. Charania did add that Martin will “compete for a spot” with the Timberwolves — but that can be said of everyone in camp.

Martin, 24, is 6-foot-6 and has appeared in 16 NBA games, all last season as a rookie with the Hawks. He was originally selected with the No. 51 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He was waived by the Hawks at the end of July.

Martin also appeared in 23 games with the College Park SkyHawks of the G League, averaging 18.0 points and 9.1 rebounds. He joined the Hawks for Summer League after the season.

Minnesota is already pretty well stocked at the wing positions, but the fact Martin is being added to the camp roster shows the team likes his upside.
